Hopefully I'm posting to the right spot regarding anemones but please correct me if I should be posting somewhere else.

Recently (10/28/2021) got a Sebae anemone and today it was floating around the tank because it has latched onto a hermit crab. At first we thought the hermit crab was "bothering" the anemone but when we went to gently move it we realized the anemone had a strong grip on it (image below).

Is there anything we should do about this?

Thank you!

I would leave alone, trying to take shell off could damage foot and is a death sentence to anemones , rip hermit crab lol. The anemone will attach to something else provided time

@blaxsun It was still alive when the picture was taken. It was eventually let go but no idea what happened to the crab.

Another question regarding the anemone floating around the aquarium. It floated around for a little bit landed in a few different areas and ultimately planted its foot under some rocks, so fairly shaded from our lights. Is this something we should be concerned and/or attempt to move?

Don’t bother the anemone , it can move on it’s own to find a desirable spot, usually anemones will float/ let go if they are unhappy and looking for a new place to live , I would check to make sure parameters are stable I kno sebae can be hard to keep

Agree with @dvgyfresh - if the anemone isn't happy where it is it'll definitely move all on its own. Mine just finished a 2-day spelunking adventure where it relocated from the front of a rock face to the rear (we both agree this is a better location!)

Thank you! Everything I've read so far and responses to my questions all point to them being difficult to care for so really wondering why my LFS recommended we get one knowing we're still very new to the hobby.

Included a picture below of where this anemone is at now.
