I have a 90 Gallon and recently bought a Sebae Anemone.....My water is pretty much perfect and I run 4 VHO's and 2 LED strips on the tank......It has looked great for the first couple days and has connected its base to a hole in a rock, but today it looked a whole lot smaller and some of its tentacles are REALLY thin!!! Whenever I have fed it pieces of silver slides, it takes it in, but I am not sure if it eats it or not....Just curious if there is anything I could or should do??!! Or are anemones weird like that and just change randomly?? Do I have TOO MUCH light on it??

Id just watch it for a few more days,Ive got a carpet and a condi and they go in/out all the time, now if it starts spitting goop out of his mouth then id be concerned, but right now your good..Feed only once a week also small chunks are better then whole silversides.. He would move if its to much light also

What are the numbers for your water parameters -- "pretty much perfect" doesn't tell the whole story. Please include SG/Salinity and how it is measured.
What color is the anemone? Do you know if it is an H. crispa or H. malu?
What lights was it under?

Personally, I would stay away from silversides, myself and other experienced anemone keepers have lost healthy anemones to their use.

I would stay away from silversides, alot of people have fed silversides that are bad in turn killing the anemone.I would feed it mysis twice a week.

i agree with that they make such a mess in the tank too.. i feed mine chunks of shrimp for the seafood dept or clams...once a week

Phosphates...0.2....ph...8.2...temp 78...nitrates and ammonia 0...salinity is 1.024....the anemone looked rough for half the day...opened up more at night and early this morning and then just got home and it is small again?? Just weird...not sure exact name but it is white and I have heard they are TOUGH to keep alive...found that out too late though :(

If it is white, the odds are good that it is a bleached H. crispa.

They can come back from this state, but it is a difficult road -- would guess that less than 50% recover.

How do I give it, it's best chance?? Just feed a bunch of mysis and add phyto feast??

I would stay away from the phyto feast -- too much of a chance of fouling your water. Would stick with the mysis -- better to feed small amounts more often, compared with large just once in a while. It takes energy for the anemone to digest the food, so the smaller the better.
Make sure that your water stays within the proper conditions.
Might want to consider acclimating it to your lights -- a couple layers of window screening (( supported by egg crate )), will work, and remove a layer every 5-7 days.

Can you get a picture of it? If not, how long are the tentacles? (( want to see how bad of shape it is in )).

All is 3.5 meq...ca is about 470...mg is 1300....it was better looking this morning but now it is looking horrible again! I am buying the Hannah digital kits for more exact measurements for alk and ca soon

Looked great this morning again when lights were off...but when lights have been on these past 2 days it doesn't look good! Haha so confused!

Can you post pics? That will help us to identify what could be going on with the anemone. My h. crispa does not look much different when the lights go on or off.
