Bought a sebae from a lfs 2 days ago, and it looked really healthy in the store. Brought it home and acclimatted it through drip acclimation for around an hour and a half, and put it in the tank with a sexy anemone shrimp after lights out. The next day it looked amazing. However, this morning he was deflated, slightly closed up, and wasnt attached to the sand. As he hasnt made any progress, i put him in a breeder net at the waters surface and upon doing so i realized he doesnt seem sticky anymore and he has a slight slimey feel. I fed him a small piece of shrimp yesterday and thought maybe he was just digesting? But his foot seems... cottony? Idk how to describe it.

Parameters:
Salinity 1.025
Ph 8.2
Nitrate 2
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
Alk 13 (letting it lower on its own)
Ran out of phosphate solution so havent checked it
Cal and Mag are where they need to be as well

The tank is a 210 gallon, and i have 3 viparspectra V165 blackboxes running at 60 blue and 30 white

Any idea what may be the issue? I also thpught chemical warfare could be at play. I have a big long tentacle, but its at the far end of the tank, so they had about 4 ft between them.

That looks like a torn foot to me. Prognosis if I am seeing this correctly is death.

Bump for a second opinion?

Completely agree. RIP anemone. Torn foot = death with this species

Thank you! I've yet to see a torn foot. I guess now I know. Terrible news... but thank you for the responses! It didn't look like this when it arrived. Could it have gotten torn just by burrying itself in the sand? And if it were to bounce back, which im sure is unlikely, how long would it take? And is there anything I can do to up his chances, or is it just in God's hands now?

Sorry, God already decided this nem isn't going to make it. Odds are foot was torn when purchased. Very unlikely in the tank, unless someone was to try to move the anemone or tried wedging it into a hole in the rockwork.

This nem isn't going to bounce back. If it was mine, it would go in the compost. If you want to try saving it, a bare 10 gallon with fresh saltwater, microbacter 7 to cycle, lighting for photosynthesis, and daily cipro dosing would be your best bet, but honestly your odds are better at hitting the mega millions with an H. crispa coming back from that.

Always in Gods hands, this one looks like He's going to take him. He may change his mind?
Here's hoping. Does the foot always look like cotton after a rip, or is this one just extra bad? I thought it'd just look like a cut or sorta like a skint knee type thing

You're seeing the anemone's guts and gonads pouring out through the hole in the foot

I'll be sure to let everyone know if it does miraculously make it. Gotta have some hope, and i will def continue to monitor. Thanks everybody!!
