Hey — probably totally normal but I wanted to check.
Tank is 5 yrs old, I’ve had the sebae for 3
Sebae anemone with its mouth open for the last 2 days. There were some big changes in the tank this week — 50% new sand, 70% water change, new rocks were added. Phosphates were .8 before. It’s shrunk considerably in the last year with lighting changes. In the last month when phosphates were high and RBTAs were running around the it left the sand and was on the glass at the top of the water column for a couple of weeks. Adding Microbacter7 daily and running carbon and gfo.
After all this change I moved it from the glass to the sand in the center of the tank where it used to live last year ( it’s been off to the side since then) I fed it when it was on the glass last week and then again when I moved it.
I guess I’m worried about all the changes affecting it negatively, and maybe feeding it during this transition caused it extra stress.

Pics are last year — and then now ( no pics in between when it’s been just generally smaller—sorry)
It’s color is much better but it’s just so much smaller too

Current Parameters tested today
Allk 7.6
Ph 8
Phos 0.4
Ca 396
Mg 1271
Nitrates 4
Nitrite 0

I'm sure it's from the changes. With nems I'd give a week or 2 before being overly concerned. Just get things back to stable.

it moved to the other side of the rock and bothered my rbta a bit, but still looks like this.
What should I do?

Leave it be for a few days , and just observe it.... if it persists a week , post a pic on here again...

I had similar thing happened to one of my Haddoni. It was weeks before it go back to normal with a lot of water changes. I think it is something in the water. I would be interest in one of these send out water test to see if there is any imbalance. This is what I would do if I have the same problem now.

I agree with @Jekyl. Something kicked up in the water could be causing a feeding response as well.

It’s going on 10 weeks looking like this. Thoughts?
Color is good, it gets a little bigger during the day, gets smaller at night. Mouth rarely changes size. I’ve fed it a couple of times and it accepts the food and eats it. It hasn’t moved at all, its foot is attached to a rock under the sand
What can I do?

I would try to provide it with optimal condition. Do water changes. Consider send water away for testing and see if you can pick up some imbalances in the water. Obviously something is affecting your anemone. Not light, not temperature, not tank-mates, not physical condition. It got to be the water.
Mine corrected with water changes. It can be lack of certain element it excessive lever if certain micro elements

Large water changes didn’t fix it - and I’m afraid to do much more since my nitrates in the display are so low. I moved it to a secondary hospital tank and dosed it with cipro for 7 days. Unfortunately right after the 7 days I went out of town for 10. It didn’t seem a whole lot different with the cipro maybe a little more active like moving around to be at the top of the rock etc. I moved it with its rock from the tank and used water from the tank at initial set up (100% water changes with fresh salt water every day thereafter) I dosed micro bacter and zooanthele in the hospital tank during coco treatment and for the 10 days after.
I’m back home and it looks smaller and is hiding a lot.

Should I try cipro again for longer?
Should I put it back in the display and see if it perks up again?

Thanks for any advice

If the first round of cipro didn't do it then another won't help. Always exercise restraint and remember these are antibiotics and should be taken seriously.
