Got a sebea anemone last night for basically free...literally... because the lfs had it all wrongly set up and I complained for like 3 weeks about their requirements..they just gave it to me so they didn't have to deal with it (they will be sticking with selling btas from now on)
Knowing it had a 50/50 chance...
All my perams are on check and the lighting is fine for him (I've done loads of ecstinsive research). It's an established tank... I did just switch all my live rock for dry rock though... Due to pesky hitch hiking little white snails..I had to switch the sand too I just wanted to post to say how great he's doing... As soon as we put him in I noticed he needed incouragment to latch onto something. So I placed him half on my dry rock..and half on the sand bed....so he could choose his "perfect" spot. Well I noticed how tired/ stressed he was from the lfs prob trying to get him to stop floating around... So I fed him some thawed misis shrimp..small portion..and he instantly latched to the rock and began eating... Over night he has slowly but healthily made his way across the dry rock to the back of it...where he's positioned himself snuggly in the sand bed AND dry rock. He placed himself in medium lighting..with medium flow. When I first received him..his tenticles were retracted and kinda shrivled...but I pressumed it was from being roughed up by a huge maroon clown... Turns out the lfs perams were off or something...or too high of lighting for him...now a couple hours after being acclimated and getting comfy...his tenticles are starting to elongate and blow about... And I can even see the purple tips starting back! I'm so happy happy happy... Wanted to post my experience so others might get encouraged / relieved and truly believe that keeping these beautiful nems is some what worth it...but on another hand I'm not saying go buy one just cuz...or if ur tanks not ready or something...deff don't buy one..make sure to do your research. Happy reef keeping
