My tank has been up and running for over a year and I finally decided to change the sand in my tank as I used playsand that contained a bucketload of silicates which in turn caused a lot of algae. The sand has been changed for 5 days now and I am getting diatoms everywhere which I am assuming my tank is cycling again. what are everyone's thoughts on this? I have a lot of bioballs in the sump if that helps with anything.

The sand has little to no impact on the cycle of a tank. It's new and will go through its own ugly phase is all.
