Hey guys - just wondering if we could have some discussion on this.

I have already talked to a couple people who have either done what I want to do, or gave me advice suggesting it might be possible. The later was an engineeer - but I want to talk to as many people as possible before making this decision.

Im moving, and want to move my 125g tank with me.

The catch is that I will be living on the second floor of a house.

The house is an older house, I got a lead paint advisory thing with it, but that apparently has been taken care of, they are just legally required to give it to me.

I have a couple rooms where it could go, but the main one we are thinking about is a smaller room, and the only other furniture would be a small circular table and two chairs.

The room touches the back wall, and the supporting wall.

The tank filled with water by itself is 83 psf...which is comprable to a 75g or a 90g which I would not hesitate to keep on a second floor. I once kept a 10g, 75g, and 29g plus a huge bed, and a huge desk/shelf/dresser combo in a room that has to be less than 12'x20' on a second floor. In addition a 125g is spread out two more feet than a 75g so the weight is spread over more joists.

Overall weight is definitely going to be under the capacity for the room - just wanting your imput if all this weight is going to be too much in one place. I wont downsize, its this or get rid of it I assume. Whos done it, and what advice can you give me. Thanks.

I would say you are okay, but it also depends on the dwelling itself. Second floor on a modular or mobile home, no. Single family dwelling should be fine.

An older home is more sound. The construction is a lot better than houses these days. I would say it should be fine!

that size of tank you got nothing to worry about just make sure u level the tank before u put water in it .

nothing to worry about .................... unless you have a leak.....................................than you have something to worry about :)

Glad to hear it...I also will have to have a stand, and some way to suspend my lights.

I also have a 55g tank as a sump, but its only about 1/3 full.

Still okay?
