I got a diamond goby 3 weeks ago and I haven't seen it for 4 days now. I haven't found any fish on the floor. There are not too many places in my tank I can see. This happened one other time a few months ago in another tank. Never found anything. but there was a black crab hitchhiker that got very big and I suspect the crab. But I know for a fact that all there is in this tank is two clowns, a cardinal, 6 line wrassie, fire fish a cleaner shrimp and a peppermint shrimp.

The crab could very well be the culprit. Crabs are opportunistic eaters and if the crab is large enough and hungry enough it could very well kill and eat a fish.

The crab was the first time but I know there is no crab anymore. Is it possible it is just hiding for a few days? Or got stuck or crushed while digging?

Could be the crab. Also, check your overflow or possibly could have made it's way down into the sump. Some gobies are notorious jumpers.

Unfortunately, yes, that can happen sometimes. When you have sand shifting/ dwelling creatures in your tank, it is important to leave the rock work as undisturbed as possible.
It is also very possible that it could have taken a dive into your overflow.
If it is being bullied or chased, they will hide for a time also.

Ever found it? Mine disappeared this morning. I saw it last night. ):

Found it in the fuge. Lol

I was gonna say, My diamond goby liked to cruise the overflow drain and hang out in my sump A LOT! I was scared to put a cover on the over flow because I didn't want him to jump up there and then dry out.

****, i noticed detritus coming into my tank from the return pump, turned out he was in there stirring up everything.
