Just a friendly reminder to secure your waste water RODI lines. Silly mistake…I normally leave mine draining into the sink but I had moved it to so come other cleaning. In a mad rush to get some new RODI water I turned on the tap but didn’t realize the waste water line (yellow line) was sitting on the counter…30 minutes later I went back…

thankfully is was a smallish flood of water that didn’t damage anything and it’s in the basement. Forced me to clean out the under the stair storage though!! I have now zip tied the line so it stays out of the way in the sink.

Good tip. We actually collect our waste water for laundry, plants, car wash and other washing projects.

I live in Florida. My waste line from my RODI goes into my pool.
A couple days ago we had freezing weather overnight.
My ATO kicked on, which triggers a zone valve that opens the line to the RODI.
It errored out (as I have it set to) after an hour of being on. Didn't fill.
Found that the 1/4" lines were frozen enough that pressure didn't go above 5psi in the RODI.
Had to hit it with a heat gun for a few minutes and problem solved.

I've lived here for 15 years and never had a freeze like this before.

I’d like to collect my wast water but it can’t be collected outside due to freezing weather all winter. Heat cable might work…

I have mine placed into a designated pipe which discharges outside. It's always good to periodically double check in case the line ever came out.
