See anything alarming??

So I added a hippo tang about 10 days ago. Since about day 3 he/she has been scratching on the live rock. Eats like a pig and all else is normal. Zero signs of ich from what I can tell. No head thrashing, just brushing up against live rock. I realize ich can take a while to surface on outside but how long. Any other ideas?? Water is pretty stable.

It's most likely either ich or flukes. Does she target the gill area when she scratches?

Ever see any oval-shaped opaque things crawl over the body (that would be flukes)? Below is a pic of a clownfish with Neobenedenia crawling over it's body. Because the fish is black, that makes it easier to see.

If you haven't seen this, ich then becomes the most likely culprit as to why she's scratching.

That depends on a lot of things including the strain of ick, tank conditions and most importantly the individual fish's immune system... ect.

On certain fish with thick mucous coats (wrasses, mandarins, clownfish, etc.) you may never see it. However, that's not to say trophonts won't still feed in the gills where the slime coat is thinner.
