Hello,
I apologize if this topic has been covered before but I'm new to the site and not very computer savvy.
I've recently returned to the hobby after a decade away. I enjoy the DIY aspect and am attempting to build a tank for as little as possible. It's a personal challenge.
That being said, I have some DIY live rock that has been curing for awhile. Followed the GARF recipe and am pretty happy with the results.
My question concerns seeding the dead rock. My original idea was to purchase a small amount of uncured rock and cycle it with my rock. I've also read about a few different sludges available. Id like as much biodiversity and hitchhikers as possible. Any suggestions on how to proceed and where to order from? I live in Montana and my nearest LFS is 100 miles away.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I have not used them, however they are lot of good post concerning Tampa Bay Saltwater and their live rock farm

I had to kill bleach my rock and start over, and I've been looking over their product line and like what I see for just what you are seeking to do (as am I ).

Welcome back! Go ahead and start curing it by seeding it with some nitrifying bacteria. Turbo start 900 and Dr. Tim’s are a couple of options there are more out there but those are the only two I have used and they have worked for me. Put your rock in a large Tupperware container with a powerhead and a heater and just add the bacteria. Put the lid on the container and it will take care of itself. I do not use live rock so I cannot point you in the right direction for that purchase but I’m sure one of the other members will be able to help you.

Thanks Mike. Ive looked into TBS a bit and it seems like their shipping to Montana is a bit expensive for the small amount of rock I need. I'll have another look though as I've been reading so much I may have confused them with another company.
