Hello R2R,

I've got some dry rock that I'd like to seed into live rock. Presently I have it all in a bucket with a heater, power head, and a couple dozen CerMedia MarinePure balls that have been in my sump for a few months. I'm in the process of tearing down my 46 gallon reef tank in preparation for my new 75 which is going to take a couple weeks.

Is a couple weeks long enough? Do I need to do any water changes? It's all bleached and cleaned coral rubble from the beach in Hawaii, so I don't think there'll be any die off to cause an ammonia spike, or would there??

Likely not a spike as you put established bacteria in there thats gonna eat. there will still probably be some die off but thats a good thing really and you have bacteria in there to cope with it.
as far as time Id always go a month if i could. if its a few weeks, and your adding to already established rock in the new tank its probably fine.
youll probably get a little bit of an ugly phase when you do the transfer but thats normal.
