Seeding quarentine tank with freshwater bacteria

I'm going to set my QT tank up so I can purchase a lovely longnose butterfly from my LFS. I have an African cichlid tank which I'm about to replace the canister filter sponges. Can I use these sponges in my QT tank filter to instantly cycle? Or is the bacteria different....

I would assume different....the bac needs to be able to withstand the salinity of salt water.
