Hi Mr. Randy Holmes- Farley. I have a question to do, i am going to seed my reef tank with coralline algae. The question is, when i pour the spores of coralline algae in the tank i should run the tank only with the wave makers only ? Or run the tank and sump together and switch off the protein skimmer ? Or you have an alternative solution ?

Is this a new tank or an existing tank with corals and live rock ? Either way , I recommend running the tank normally . What I did when I introduced coralline to my tank was to blend the coralline , and add some liquid calcium to it with some tank water . Then I just emptied the cup in a high flow area .

How are you getting spores?

I'd try to confine them to the tank without sump for a few hours to let them settle out.

I have some coralline algae on live rocks , scraping them in some tank water in a blender , give them a good spin , then i pour it in the tank. How much hours i will leave them to let it settle ? Do i run the power heads in the tank only ? What's your opinion to get the best results ? Thanks Mr. Randy Holmes- Farley for reply me, i really do appreciate !!
