This is the story behind the creation of non-profit Coral Restoration Foundation in the Florida Keys. Founded by Ken Nedimyer, the Foundation currently cultivates staghorn corals in a nursery, and replants them on the local reefs. In 1997 and 1998, back-to-back bleaching events wiped out nearly all the hard corals in the Florida Keys. What little staghorn were left was not sustainable. But thanks to Ken's efforts, staghorn are beginning to come back to the Keys

What an awesome undertaking, hopefully this sort of thing can start being done in other reefs around the world.
 
Our local club, Florida Marine Aquarium Society have a dive scheduled with Ken on Dec 11th. If the weather cooperates, it should be fun.

Just trying to decide how thick a wetsuit I need to bring :bigsmile:
