my hundred gallon has been up and running for about 3 weeks now I have two 150 watt metal halide running about 8 hours a daynow all of the rock is starting to turn green,,this may be hair algea growing I don't know,, what can I do about it

You could try cutting down the time for the halides being on. I don't use them, but I have friend that do and they usually run them for less then 6 hours daily without issue.

Their may be other issues as well. Phosphates, nitrates, etc. Make sure your parameters are good and cut down time the lights on and you should be good, IMHO.

here's a pic of what's going on

Less light will certainly do it. I had the same problem. Someone suggested with less light the algae most likely goes away.

You might have excess nutrients caused by overfeeding. Need to test for nitrates, phosphates etc. Also make sure your skimmer is working properly. Are you using ro water?

all of my water parameters are good with the exception of calcium which is low and I have no way to check for phosphate I don't have a phosphate tester,,I did cut the metal halide and the fluorescent compact way back I also ordered a pretty hefty clean up crewI hope this works

What clean up crew did you go with?
