I have been trying to design a 20 long sump for days now with. NO success. It's getting real frustrating! I'm trying to have it where I can have a fuge incorporated into it some how and leave room for my mag drive return, skimmer, reactor and a filter sock. The tank is not drilled or anything idk if that's useful info but I'm new at the entire sump making I've only had a all in one. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You could go with a HOB skimmer and reactor. Or the reactor can be driven by a separate pump if you need it to be.

Something like this, you can drop it down to 1 sock and make more room for the skimmer.

Nice design ^above^ I like it. You can adjust/shift the right side baffles a bit to gain more Refugium space or even eliminate the last baffle all together.

Cheers, Todd

Post up some pictures when you decide what you're going with, we would all like to see how you made out.

Your water levels in the sump should be low enough that when the power ever goes off, there is room in the sump for the extra water that will flow down there. You don't want it to overflow! Also, I have found that blocking the light of the refugium out of the other 2 sections will keep some of the algae from growing in your skimmer, and in general from growing where you don't want it growing. I used some black acrylic siliconed in above the glass baffles.

What did you go with? any pictures?

My reccomendation is use the least amount of baffles as possible. Maybe just a bubble trap and thats it. I have found no matter how long I have thought out a sump, the baffles just end up being in the way. Especially down the road when you sub in new equipment etc. Egg crate helps keeps things seperate.
