Hi, I'm new so try and be gentle
Read a heap on this forum and watched too many youtube clips and finally setup a waterbox 180.5 Reef Pro the other day after being out of the game for quite some time and have started the cycle.
One thing that I just can't seem to work out is that there is quite a lot of flow entering the main drain chamber (irrespective of how much I back off the gate valve) even though it seems I have balanced it correctly with the water level just sitting below the overflow stand pipe. There is so much flow that it overflows from the first filter sock area directly into the second, as well as overflows over the side into the skimmer chamber (which I will obviously setup once I have completed the cycle). The filter floss there is just to reduce noise and didn't impact waterlevel if it was in or not.
Not sure if it is to do with the pump I am using? It's a Hydor Seltz D 12000 which I have backed off to it's slowest setting, and I tried opening both manifold lines to try and reduce return flow, but that didn't seem to make a difference.
Any ideas on what to try next would be great, not a fan of having the water level so high!
Cheers
