Hello reefers, I have just got (most) of my new test kits in and here are the results.... 1.025 salinity, 8.72 dkh, 8.2-8.4 PH, 440 ca, nitrate .5-1 ppm, phosphate .04-.05 ppm. I tested at least 3 times with consistent results and was as accurate as I could be. It was a yuge difference from my trusted LFS who was using all api tests with worn off measuring lines and just eyeballing it with a pipette on the rack. He told me I needed to bump up my nitrates more and everything was super low. The nitrates make sense because I read 0 with my api until I tested with the nyos. But with the new results could I be ready for some duncans, and maybe a blasto or favia? My zoas, gsp and pulsing xenia are doing great and growing. Tank is about 2 months old, got through an ugly diatom/algae stage and haven't had much problems since. Running a skimmer and tiny refugium with dying chaeto probably because of low nutrients but I want to keep it to eventually have a good home for pods. No dosing as of yet.

Yep, agreed. What are you considering? Not all are created equal Some are pretty easy like favia or blastomussa, while others like chalices and lobophyllia can be a bit more finicky.

Went with a trumpet and a beautiful favia

The one on the right looks like a blasto to me. No matter, beautiful and hardy all the same.

I was gonna say "just do it" and if they are doing good for a while then go get some more of what you like.
