What are the dimensions of the tank you want to light?
Two things to consider?
1. Is the spread of the light going to cover the footprint of the tank at the hight you hang the light?
2. If the spread does cover there footprint, how strong is the light at the bottom of the tank (PAR/LUMEN readings)?
I shoot for a MINIMUM of 8k lumens at the bottom of my tanks, and prefer 10-12k. I also prefer lights which allow you to adjust the intensity as 12k is something you work up to gradually.

. I am partial to T5/LED hybrid myself. You get great coverage with the T5 as well as additional PAR and correct light spectrum while the LED I use for color. I see more and more reefers either going back to T5 only or supplementing LED with T5 or vice versa.
