Selection of an Aquarium

Selecting an aquarium--specifically, the size and type will be my starting point (not that I will purchase immediately). The size will determine the type of livestock I will include (reef-friendly, hardy type). It will also influence the type of filtration and other items needed to sustain a healthy, life-supporting aquarium. So, I am asking about the pros and cons of a nano, all-in-one, and sump filtration type. I do not have room for a large tank (100+ gallons). What are your thoughts?

If this is your first foray into reefkeeping a small to mid size AOI will mandate a more simplified approach. Less gear, more attention to the biology of the hobby.
