So a random question that has been floating around my head the past couple of weeks regarding the transfer of corals when doing a new tank build. My 75 is full of SPS, some LPS corals, and zoas. They range in size from little stick frags to entire rocks covered in zoas or encrusted montipora.
  • Would you sell your coral and start over or transfer them all to the new tank?
I could definitely see benefits to each side. Have an amazing tank after the build because of all the coral already there. OR the fun and excitement of buying new corals....maybe doing something new!

What would you do?

How big is the new tank?

Take frags of the corals you like and move them to the new tank. You get the excitement of new growth and get to save money!

I like this idea as it is also a good compromise between A & B :)

Post some pics of the process!

It's a fairly boring process so far but here's the build thread. https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/fences-tank-transfer-build.349561/

You can do a little of both. Keep the nicest frags and colonies. The run of the mill or boring or ones you just don't like sell.

This way you can have the excitement of growing new stuff but not cancel out all your hard work.

I think this is kind of the way that's gaining the most popularity. Time for a frag sale.
