I am just beginning the process of breeding clowns. I have a breeding pair and just waiting for them to spawn again. Once I raise the offspring I plan to sell them here and to people locally. If I want to sell the remainder that do not sell quickly how can I go about selling to my LFS? I understand I will only get pennies on the dollar but its better than them all fighting and dying.

I am located in Euless TX and was wondering if anyone has an insight to how this works in general.

My son owns a small business where he sells corals out of his garage, I could give the fish to him to sell since he has a business license. (not sure if this is necessary though)

Thanks for any info

Most LFS's will give you store credit for any type of livestock. I've seen them give either 33% or 50% of what they normally sell for at retail. You just need to check with the different stores around you.

I'd call the store before you take them to ask what they might give. Like what Jimbo said, they might only give you store credit but you can always spend that on food or additives.

+1 but check the policy...one store here only allows livestock purchases with the credit. Another store allows you to buy dry goods but with a catch. If you have a $10 credit only half of that will apply so you really only have a $5 credit.

Sometimes they will buy from you (cash) as long as you can supply them constantly. That way they don't have to pay for shipping and can say the clowns are locally raised. It's a win win.

Ive talked to my LFS and he said when they are big enough for resale then we can either sell for cash or trade for in store credit. This LFS is local.

There is a local breeder that takes their fish to Dallas North Aquarium. They will put them up for sale on the local club site and then after a few weeks take what hasn't sold to DNA Not sure if they pay cash or store credit, they have never said. I just know they will post on the local club site that they just taken X number of clowns up to DNA. They breed several varieties though.

Now with the new website design DFWMAS isn't as active anymore, but yeah he was on there awhile ago. As long as you offer healthy and salable sized fish one of the LFS will take them. Frank's Tanks or True Percula on the other side of the metroplex would be other options a little bigger than MidCities.

Yeah, I wish theyd get tapatalk support going. I really hate the new interface.

Good thing about dfw, lots of stores to offer them to.

Ocean Ave. gave me the ok to come see them when they are grown out, I have not talkeed to Frank or DNA yet. Also true percula is going out of business...40% everything right now except tank I believe.
