Hey there R2R, (also not sure if this is the right forum so move if needed)

I have a couple frags of the infamous illuminati zoas from WWC and I was thinking about splitting the larger count frags into smaller ones to eventually sell.

I have never done this and have a couple questions about shipping and pricing.

1. Should i do priority shipping which is 2 days or do 1 day shipping?
2. Does it have to be insulated or can I fill it with packing peanuts?
3. Does the size of the box matter?
4. Do people normally include shipping in the cost or is it price per polyp then they pay shipping?

Thanks for any help anyone can give....

haven't decided yet, looking for answers to this first...

1. Should i do priority shipping which is 2 days or do 1 day shipping? I would recommend 1 day shipping, but zoas will have no problem with 2 day
2. Does it have to be insulated or can I fill it with packing peanuts? Highly recommend some sort of insulation as temperature changes across the US are vast (for example, Ocala right now is 75F while Detroit is 43F)
3. Does the size of the box matter? Use the smallest box that will accommodate coral(s) and insulation
4. Do people normally include shipping in the cost or is it price per polyp then they pay shipping? I believe R2R policy is that posted prices include shipping, however selling elsewhere is at your discretion whether to include shipping in the price or not

I seem the sell from 200 pp to 50 for a frag with 2 or 3 heads. I wouldn't pay 200

Thanks! I only ask as 2 day shipping is like 10 and 1 day ranges from 20-50.

Yeah it's crazy how much the range is for them!

Always use a insulated box, whether you buy a premade one, or you make it yourself.
Never use a plain box and peanuts.
Using the smallest box you can will save the buyer ( maybe you) on shipping costs.
Specimen cups work well for small zoanthid frags.
I do NOT like 2 day shipping.
I always insist on overnight.
I would not want to risk $200+ worth of corals with a savings of $20-$40.

Okay awesome thanks! I'll look into insulated boxes this weekend and start fraggin them all up. Thanks guys. I really really do appreciate all the feed back!

Now to determine how much per polyp!

$50-75 per polyp would be about I’d say Fair asking price. Illuminati grow like weeds so that big wwc price tag is becoming more and more unrealistic as more reefers get em and Frag out. I got a 5-6 polyp Frag of them at reefapoluza Orlando for 250 from pork sandwich. I now have Atleast 35 polyps so just like buttkissers I believe price will be consistently be going down rather quickly do to both of there super fast growth rates. I Love Me some Illuminati and their one of my Favs. I’ve bought tons of Zoa’s online and know the market very well. Anyway best wishes. I’d grow out maybe 2-4 polyp frags and sell for $125- $150 bucks.

Okay awesome! I do appreciate that information a lot! I'll certainly do just that.

Okay sorry for all the questions I've been looking at overnight shipping and it most prices I've seen through FedEx/UPS are looking to charge 60-80 as the norm to all the previous people I've sent. Is that a normal amount for shipping? Or am I just doing something wrong.

don't forget to include a refund/return policy which typically requires a picture within a certain time from delivery.

Algae barn is my favorite shipper - they include a Swedish Fish in their packages
