Well im just about as depressed as one can get right now. My almost 8 year old aquarium had a semi crash on me yesterday. All my chalice corals seemed to be hit the worst. I lost all except a orange swirl from sexy corals, plus my beautiful wall hammer and gold torch looks like they are on their way out also. I check my aquarium pretty often and Tuesday it tested all within my sweet spots for my tank. Wedsday when I got home it looked cloudy and that is unusual for this tank. I immediately checked it again and it was fine, so I called up a buddy and checked it with his test kit and still fine. Well I did a fair water change and hopeing for the nest but its already claimed some of my favorite corals that will take me forever to save for again. :( sorry for ranting but gotta vent somewhere

That's a bummer. It Is discouraging when you have had a tank for so long then, boom. I hope you get everything back to normal before losing anything else my friend.

thank you, hopefully it will be ok. I've moved some stuff to frag tank but most my nice chalices are gone

Started moving stuff to frag tank till I can figure out what's wrong

yea im gonna give everything a cleaning and hopefully nothing else dies, Im pretty down cause so far my gold torch, about 6 chalice corals and a few favias have totally kicked the bucket.

Ok a bit of a update, Like I said ive tested my water a few hundred times and keeps coming up great, even on my friends kit also. I decided to tear some stuff down to dig a little deeper, not sure if I found the problem but there was a big glob of white goo in the bottom of the filtration and I dug it out. It was 2 stink bugs with some nasty looking jelly surrounding it. Like I said Idk if this could even possibly done this but its all ive found so far.

Well so far its claimed a few acros and my montis, a few zoas, favias, and a a lot of chalices.

So far its the only thing that is different, I even ran a poly filter that changes colors for different things like nitrate , nitrate, metals, etc... just to see what comes up and nothing, plus ive tested a hundred times. Im stumped unless it was the stink bug?

had the same thing...as far as really unknown what happened so I feel for ya! I had an 11 inch diameter long tentacle plate go rtn overnight and nuke the tank, then practically whole 120g sps die in next few weeks.

Of about 175g of water in that system I changed 50g immediately and fresh carbon. hindsight and advice from others is I didn't change enough water and should have been doing daily 50g changes for at least a few days...but I waited a week then reacted with multiple changes but was too late.

Well all the death has been removed and tank has finally started looking better, matter a fact it looks great besides the now empty spots. Been getting a shopping list together so hopefully ill have it back to A+ shape in a few more months.

Wow! Sorry to hear Dave, hopefully everything is truly back on track for you now. I to just narrowly avoided a Crash on my system, but for other reasons that I'll post up in my Build Thread or ??? Looks like its time to call in a few favors with your local Reefers and get some replacement coral starts.

Cheers, Todd

Thanks man, yea im hoping that it truly is stable now. Unfortunately where I live I am my local reefers lol, Just not a lot of people in my area that has reefs and the ones that do focus more on the soft corals.

Ok the tank is looking alot better and things finally are looking like they use to. Only thing is it looks bare in color, im surprised how much color my tank lost from just a few chalice and monti caps being gone
