I sold my Seneye Reef on Ebay and the new user is unable to use it until Seneye removes it from my account, The message claims: "We must check with the previous owner to ensure that they have actually sold the device, this simple check avoids MALICIOUS BEHAVIOR.
No it actually states this on Seneye site. What possibly could be a malicious behavior with a Seneye?
My mind is blown, It's like Copy Protection but on a device.
What if I want to let my friend borrow this for a day?
This just seems to crazy and unnecessary to me.

THOUGHTS?

Same thing happened to me when I bought mine, the last owner had to release it.

If you want your friend to borrow you set up another user name or the like.

You could have changed your admin password and given them it with order.

Weird but thats what it is. Someone could have stolen the seney from your house, this prevents that as well, well them from using it.

Tell the new owner to email seneye support and provide the serial number of he device. They’ll switch ownership of the device under his account usually within 48hrs

It’s a bit like transferring registration of a car where I live - the authorities won’t process it until the paperwork from the prior owner is received. I like this, dis-incentivises thieves as the item they stole becomes a brick. Apple does similar with their devices.

I bought a used unit and contacted seneye support myself and they were able to transfer the ownership of the device under my seneye acct without contacting the previous owner. I then sold the unit when I finished measuring the par of my tank. I informed the new owner to contact seneye to transfer ownership of the device. Seneye support transferred ownership without contacting me as the previous owner

We haven't heard back from Seneye yet, so I just sent the new owner my login and password info for now.
I don't need it any longer.

Since you wanted 'thoughts' - I checked on the Seneye website where it says:

http://answers.seneye.com/en/Seneye_Products/SCA_Version_2_information/Second_Hand_Device

Seems like this is something you should have researched before you transferred ownership. Just do what they say. Seems like this is your issue - not Seneye's not the purchaser. (You asked).
