Anyone using or have used the Par Meter on the Seneye Reef Monitor? If so do you find it accurate?
Please let me know. I have the unit sitting in a box because I find it difficult to use.

I have one personally. First let me say Im going to be using the words reliable and accurate. Reliable in my case means a number trustworthy and close enough to know what to do with your light or coral placement. Accurate in my sense mean a number that is the definitive PAR number no if ands or buts thats the number that spot is getting.

You have to try to keep your hand and arm out of the way of light as much as possible. Make sure the glass light reader is facing the angle of the light (mostly has to do with LED's or the outter edges of your tank). Those things will get you a pretty reliable reading. Reliable enough to know what kind of PAR your light is putting off in what spots for coral placement. Your not gonna get an accurate PAR number unless you drop thousands of dollars on a lab grade or medical grade PAR meter and thats the bottom line. But the seneye in this case will give you a close number that you can work with and rely on for coral placement and figure out if you have enough PAR in the tank. BRS has a couple newly released videos on PAR meters (the seneye is one of them) and lights that are worth every minute watching. To sum up their videos the seneye comes very close to the readings a lab grade PAR meter worth thousands of dollars that BRS used to compare results with. Hope this helps!

Has anyone done a side by side of a seneye and Apogee or seneye and a li-cor.
personally I keep seeing odd things in the seney results.

They compared all 3. Seneye came to be just the same as apogee

where is that bud. I keep seeing weird stuff that makes NO sense.
Just sayin, a Kessil ap 700 I just dont think will give ya 200 par at 24 in. in the corner of a tank.

Most people don't know about the "immersion effect". I have to add 32% to my readings with the apogee mq500. I've read the results of a test claiming the seneye was reading 30-40% higher than the apogee (no model listed). Is there a conversion number for the seneye under water?

Yea this was just studied right? Crazy right, techically all the par meters in saltwater arent accurate haha!
