Sentinel For red buggies

I just dosed 1 tablet of sentinel in a 170 gallon dominate sps tank last night. This morning I came in and did a 35% water change and turned the skimmer back on, and added carbon. Everything seems to be surviving for now. Emerald crabs and snails seem unaffected after 24 hrs. As for killing all of the red bugs, time will tell.

I can say this for sentinel, as soon as I dosed i noticed red bugs coming from the bottom of my frags and began to move around. I will dose another pill in 7 days and post my results of the second treatment.

I'm curious to see if I notice any red bugs on the second treatment to verify whether the first go actually killed the red bugs.

In closing I'll say this much, sentinel doesn't seem to kill any inverts in the short term. Only time will tell the long term affects.

Great! Thanks for a user update. I'm about to undertake the same dosing this weekend for red bugs. I called my vet and explained the issue, and why I needed a tab of Sentinel. After an hour of research, she called me back and agreed to provide one. I'll be picking it up tomorrow and will dose on Sunday.

I look forward to your update saltyaquatic ! I'll post my findings as well.

Dose number one is in the books and all looks well! My vet is awesome. Prescribed my "coral aquarium" with a tab of Sentinel.

I followed most people's procedures with Sentinel.

-Removed as many inverts as possible. Except the Blue Linkia and Sandsifting Starfish, a rouge snail or two, and a Blue-legged Hermit.

-Dropped skimmer airline in water and removed cup.

-Closed GFO and Carbon reactor valves.

-Mixed 1/3 of Sentinel pill with 1/4cup water and added to high flow area.

-Dosed Sunday morning around 0900.

-For the first three hours I still noticed red bugs on one particular infested coral. This morning, I could see no sign of red bugs on it or other infested corals.

-Changed 30% of water volume Monday night around 1800hrs.

-Changed carbon and GFO.

-Put skimmer and reactors back online.

As of now, 21:05hrs, I see no sign of red bugs on any coral that showed signs of infestation. All inverts that were left are still alive and showing no sign of stress or death. All fish and corals look just fine.

I will repeat the process this weekend to kill any residual bugs, followed by a third and final dose after Christmas. So far I'm very pleased with the Sentinel results. The biggest scare was potential harm to my inverts, but it doesn't seem to have affected them.

I'll post another report next week. :)

Dose two went well also. No invert loss and better yet NO RED BUGS! I will end my dosing at two.

I will be purchasing Bayer for dipping any/all future additions!
