This is a NEWB question but should I join my frag tank plumbing into my main display tank?
My MD is 150g with a 75g sump. I have room to put the frag tank next to my MD but I'm not sure
if I should run it together or separate.

Either way works and there are advantages and disadvantages either way. Over the years I've done both.

If it's purely going to be a frag tank and not a holding tank for new purchased corals, it works well tied into the main tank. Personally, I use mine as much as a holding tank for new corals and even for things I collect in the wild (Gulf of Mexico and Florida Keys) I keep mine separate from the DT so there is no chance of contaminating the DT.

I like to keep them separate so I have a coral bank of everything in the event of a catastrophe.

Separate if you plan to import or buy corals and want to watch, monitor or treat them and don't want to risk getting anything in your main system.

If the corals are being fragged from your display tank and your using the frag tank as a grow-out system, then plumb them together.

So what if someone like me has a frag tank that I'm wanting to do grow outs in but also want a place for new coral I buy so when I frag the new corals from the frag tank I can move it to the display? I am worried about pests and what not but it would make things much easier on water quality being the same to plumb them together.
