Serious Aiptasia Outbreak

with Aptasia-X I can't get to the ones that is under a rock or behind it. So eventually those that are left grew very big and was able to repopulate the tank full of aptasias.

TRUE peppermint shrimps did it for me too. I had 2, after all the aptasia are gone, one died due to starvation. So now I hand feed my other one with pellets, point is, true peppermints will not attack corals even when hungry.
Peppermint shrimp will not touch coral. There is at least one shrimp that looks similar to the P. Shr. it is a camel shrimp.

Idk
After fighting Aptasia for years with Aptasia-x and Peppermints I read about the Berghia solution. A little pricey but worth every cent. It took about three weeks in a 28 gallon NanoCube with roughly 50 countable Aptasias. When I seen no more Aptasia the Berghia became visable on the glass which made them easy to suck up with the pipette which came with them. I was as able to pass them on to others who had the same Aptasia issues.
I've had aptasia eating nudibranchs in my tank for 3 months now and I'm still using aptasia x and it's not having any effect on them i don't see any less nudis I do however always Do a 20% wc after using aptasia x

WOuld love a consensus on this.... Ive heard at least 100 stories of people reporting that true peppermint shrimp ate up all their corals, zoas, rics, bounce mushrooms, Just about everything..... Seems risky if you got a tank full of highend coral and 1 or 2 apistia

I understand your trepidation. I had 2 aptasia on a clam and bought 3 Pep. Shrimp. Aptasia gone and I just fed the shrimp when they appeared. After awhile (months) I never say them again. They only have a 2 year lifespan. I have a mixed reef and to the best of my knowledge they never touched any coral or Zoa,mushroom,clam or SPS or LPS. There are many shrimp that look similar to each other and is very easy to make a mistake and get the wrong one, thinking that they have a true peppermint Shrimp and they don't. I posted one pic each to show how they do look alike. It can be even more suttle than these 2 pics show. What I have done is find pics of a true peppermint Shrimp and verify,verify and verify. Then I print the Pic and take it with me. Now when you buy a couple of these guys that match the pic (Exactly) you know you ARE Safe. I had 3 in my 75g mixed reef. One of my SPS is a Fruity Pebbles,tri-color Bali, Ultra blue Maxima,A few High End Mushrooms etc. No issues: some pics here of corals P1000182.JPG My Entry Aussie Lobo.JPG Nuclear Chernoble mushroom twins.JPG that these shrimp NEVER touched:

Probably has a lot to do with keeping them fed. They are opportunistic so may turn on you if they go hungry. I had a friend tell me they shredded a high end bounce shroom so thats a pretty big scare for me lol.

That is true with some of what we have. I had a Rabbit fish after 8 months start nipping LPS and my Clam. He was fat and Sassy too. ????
Not saying your friend is wrong about the shrimp he had that damaged his mushroom, But it may have been a Camel Shrimp and Not a peppermint Shrimp. This is The Point I'm trying to Convey. I would not hesitate to reintroduce a true peppermint Shrimp again if needed. I know how you may feel as I have many High Dollar SPS: RR Pink Floyd, RR Gatekeeper, Strawberry Lemonade, Pearl Berry, JF blue tide and Purple Poison passion shortcake and Kaleidoscope to name a few. Do what works for you as end results is all that counts in the end.
Good Luck :D:cool::cool::cool:
