i am doing a nuvo 25 build, and im finally at the point of doing the lights. I purchased a 24" 4 bulb t5 fixture. I was planning on doing t5 with a reefbrite. However a single small led fixture is so appealing. I also would not have to buy bulbs. In this tank i plant to grow only zoanthids. I was thinking of kessil, but that would be 500$. The t5 option is 160$. I could see using the noopsyche at 220$. What would you do?

People have successful reef tanks with all of the options that you mentioned. What type of livestock do you plan to keep in your tank (now and in the medium-term future)? FWIW I am hoping to get a Noopsyche soon. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I am only going to grow zoanthids.

i would go with the noopsyche then. cheaper than running t5's. bulbs are somewhat expensive and cause more heat and more energy to be used. the led your looking at is more than enough for zoas.

The wattage would be the same.

A nuvo 25 lagoon is 24x24. Ai is only 40-50 watts. The t5s are only 160$ you would need two ai. That makes no sense.
No you could use 1 ai

personally I wouldn't worry about the spread as much. he is only doing zoas. its not like he is doing anything that requires strong lighting

Well even spread is whats important. Even spread and spectrum. That is why i chose t5.

Spread is always important. Don’t need dark corners and want everything to get what it needs lighting wise.

I agree spread is important. I like my ai. Currently you can only adjust settings from your phone or tablet but they are going to be releasing firmware to get the WiFi part going so you can do it from your computer but i like the fact i didn’t need a control box plus the light. I don’t know much about the light your buying though.

I am not trying to be dismissive of anyone. I just thought perhaps some noopsyche users would chime in.

@Manose, @dantimdad - any feedback on Noopsyche lights that you can share to this thread? Thanks.

o I agree its important and I don't want to act like its not but growing zoas is not anything near like growing sps and honestly I like having some corners where its a tad darker especially if he ever wants to do softies or something that doesn't need much direct light.

The nuvo 25 is an awesome tank and yes one K7 would really rock that tank. I'm sorry for such a late reply as I have a family member not well.
We have a facebook group as well if you ever want to reach out for more information. https://www.facebook.com/groups/506368299934110/
