I brought home this beauty a few days ago and tonight not only do I see her out and about, but I see her living out her mission impossible dreams.. does anyone know why?

It can be relatively normal behavior. Probably scavenging for food and exploring. Be careful that it doesn't go carpet surfing If you don't have a lid on your tank.

I have a glass lid for now but there’s a 2” gap in the back where I haven’t added the plastic pieces yet. She appears to be settled in for now so I’ll cut and add the plastic tomorrow.

Mine ventures out on the glass when the lights are off every now and then, never tried to climb out. One early morning it was all the way at the surface waving frantically so I started testing, alk had overdosed up to 16.. lots of water change before work, so my lesson was they can be pretty good indicators of water quality. :)

It's unlikely it would actually climb all the way out (mostly due to the strength required to do so since everything is heavier out of water)...if it hangs out at the surface though and stretches it's arms out to expose them to the air, it's seeking oxygen which isn't a good thing...and yeah, is your water cloudy for some reason??

Thanks for the helpful Info! Yeah I noticed my water was cloudy too.. I think I have it figured out. I wasn’t mixing my salt good enough before adding it to the water. Now that I’ve made that change, she doesn’t climb the glass anymore and I hardly see her. But I know she’s still alive because I see her arms in different areas of the tank :)
