Serpent starfish

Yes. I have two. One I never see, the other does come out on occasion but mostly I just see her arms sticking out. She'll take pieces of food, like clam, from me. But she'll take more than she can eat and horde it.

To me, this is my biggest reefing disappointment. I wanted lots of invertebrates but they all seem to be nocturnal or shy.

Is it normal for the serpent starfish to always be hiding and never coming out?
It only come out at night. But when it is hungry enough, it will come out to eat when you feed frozen food to your fish. Mine will come out to steal food from the anemones.

Thanks, now you bring up another question. I just purchased a clam for my tank, will he go after the clam and try to eat it? lol

I paid a premium for a red and yellow one thinking it would be super cool looking. I'm sure it is, but not if it's never visible. lol . Lessons learned on these guys... think FUNCTIONAL like magically invisible cleaning crew. Save yourself some money and don't spring for the pretty ones.
