I added a serpent star to my tank today had been wanting one for awhile. It didn't occur to me that it might be stung by a lps or anemone. Has anyone had success with a serpent in a lps tank?

Same here, same orange star. Creeped out a few people over the years. Closest thing to an octopus I'd put in my tank. Was working low in the tank a day ago and it grabbed my finger! Let go right away tho and slithered off. The other two are quite allusive, rarely seen, but fun all the same![]()
Ok very cool yeah I love mine he hangs out on a rock underside and drops down to grab mysis either my blenny ran him out of the cave or the serpent is just exploring the tank on day 2. So this is a 30 gallon and I wanted to add a green leather toadstool for something to grow tall. Will the toxins released disturb an anemone on this tank? I have read mixed reviews online
I have a orange that stick his arms out, like the Kraken, when food enters the tank. He spends most of the time inside a rock, but I caught him one night....in fact, he now does it almost every night..
I have tons of GSP, some giant palys and some smaller palys all over my tank and he has lived with them for about 8 years now.
You can actually coerce him out with a tasty morsel of some kind. I never really noticed him coming out, but I have been taking pretty good care of my tank the past few years. Maybe not enough for him to eat. I have a pair of 14" hemostats and directly give him a few pieces of flake food stacked up.
I had a green brittle star with anemones and Britt'ney Spears never had a problem. However I didn't do my homework and one morning came in to see the tank all stirred up...she had eaten my new flame scallop! I target fed her fresh shrimp, stuck on the end of a long wooden skewer. She would immediately attack it every time I fed her this way, very fun to watch. She seemed to eat the shrimp no matter the size, and you could see the lump of shrimp inside her until it was digested (see photo). Fun!![]()
Beautiful specimen.. he's I have noticed the bad reviews on green brittles.. I have a 30g I am thinking about doing a species only tank with starfish and sea horses maybe a pipe fish... I really am only worried about the clam in my tank but I keep everything well fed.
