I have started design on a bookcase aquarium and I am stuck on the best way to go. Hoping I can get some direction on a couple of questions:

1). I was contemplating an AIO for ease but I am not sure how large of a tank can be effectively run in an AIO? The space is about 46" x 24" but I dont necessarily need to fil it. I would like to have a mixed reef.

2). So many of the tanks I love have a clear back instead of black. I have always had black but was thinking of doing a side overflow and having the back clear. I am not sure how I could keep the back glass clean if its built into a bookshelf. Is there some tool or method Im not aware of? Are there other advantages / disadvantages to a clear back?

3). The size is not standard. What are some options for custom glass builds? (I used Leemar last time and they are out of business)

If anyone else has some advice or links about a bookcase shelf I'd appreciate any help I could get. Thanks.

One of our local club reefers made an AIO out of a 89 gallon (48" x 24" x 18"). Came out super nice. Planet Aquarium custom built the aquarium and he built the rear filtration section.
