Set up hospital tank for beat up fish

I added a Lightning Maroon Clown to my 140gDT after a 24 hour period in a holding box in the DT. My Maroon and Gold big mama fish took exception. While I was at work the LM got beat up pretty bad. I moved the MG to the frag tank. That was yesterday.
Today the LM is looking worse so I have set up a hospital tank.
It's a 30g, because that's what I had, and a hob filter rated for a 70g, because that's what I had. I added some filter floss and a sponge to the hob, and took out the carbon insert it came with. Used 25g of water from the DT. Heater and thermometer. Ammonia badge. And some Fritz Turbostart I had from a prize package from Reef Currents. Thanks Fritz!
I'm going to pick up Seachem Metroplex and Kanaplex from the LFS tomorrow, and Furan 2 will be here Saturday. I plan to move the LM to the hospital tank tomorrow after work and add the first 2 antibiotics. Am I missing anything?

It sounds like you've got it so far. Do you have a way to aerate the system while medicating? A small air pump/ stone is perfect. Other than that it looks fine.

A 90 minute bath in Ruby Reef Rally before or during the med dosing will help. It has both antiseptic and antibiotic qualities, which will help with any wounds suffered. Best of luck beautiful fish.
And a small powerhead aimed up rippling the surface will give the best O2 exchange while treating with meds.

Do i really need a power head? I've got a power filter HOB rated for a 70g tank with water dropping an inch or two into the tank, plus a bubble wand. I don't want the current to be too much for him.
I've got him in the hospital tank now with Seachem Metro and Kanaplex. He's laying on his side not looking good at all. His skin has peeled from his right side. [emoji22]

Peeling like skin is a symptom of Brooklynella.

Brooklynella:

Symptoms – This is most often seen in clownfish, but it can afflict any fish. The fish’s skin will appear to be peeling or sloughing off, oftentimes causing excessive white mucous to form around the affected area(s).

Treatment options - Formalin or acriflavine bath, followed by additional baths (as needed - but give the fish a day to recuperate in-between baths). You can use formalin in a QT (at a much lower concentration than the bath), but great care must be taken to provide plenty of gas exchange as formalin will quickly deplete the water of oxygen. For this reason, doing baths is the safer option as the fish can be pulled from the formalin if showing signs of distress. Acriflavine is probably the better option for in-tank QT use.

The following products contain formalin: Formalin-MS (preferred), Quick Cure, Aquarium Solutions Ich-X, Kordon Rid-Ich Plus.

Acriflavine can be found in Acriflavine-MS (preferred) and Ruby Reef Rally.

Metronidazole (exs. Seachem MetroPlex, Metro-MS, Hikari Metro+) is considered an alternative treatment for brook. A freshwater dip may provide temporary relief if you are unable to locate any of the aforementioned medications right away. Some even claim total eradication of the disease is possible just by performing multiple FW dips on the fish.

Do i really need a power head?

A powerhead provides a much higher rate of O2 exchange. Set it pointing up rather steeply so it's not pushing the fish around. I like to use a real small one like a Hydor #240.

You're aerating the system already, it's not really needed unless you want to stop using an air pump. But I prefer that in a QT to a flow pump any day.

I'm extremely sorry to say the fish has died. He did not take to the hospital tank well, i believe it speeded up the inevitable. Rest in peace.
