Setosa thread

My setosa is in the lower part of my tank, maybe 2ft below my radion, and is branching up towards the light (thought the poccilapora is growing over it so that doesn't help lol). IME, I think this coral likes medium/high light and medium flow.

Guess I should finally put up a pic of my frag now that I have it planted! I hope it continues to branch the way it is. The orange is a bit deeper than it shows in the pic.

Love all the different forms it can take. Even when plating it is variable. Really an unusual coral.

I figured this Monti would prefer the med to lower lights but it seems to just have an affect on how it forms. Looks like higher in the tank it just plates out and lower it branches up, but in either of the cases both looked very happy and healthy! I have something that I think is a Lime green Setosa but no one has been able to positively id it just guesses. Maybe here someone can say yes or no or what it is...

So here it is about a month later. It took a bit to acclimate but now the growth has started and seems to be accelerating. It is retaining its knobby branch form for now it appears, without much encrusting going on. Has lost a little of the deep orange color.

Can you get a better pick with out a lot of blue spectrum? Very interesting!

Sorry, first attempt didn't work like I'd hoped. I grew it out from a pinky nail frag. Hardiest SPS I've ever came across. Survives when other LPS do not. It's happy and in good water now though. It likes VERY VERY bright light. Clam level light to grow the fastest. Had it 3+ years.

Man, I can't believe Tim Plaza is in this forum now, best tank I have ever saw in Northern Cali. How about plugging in your tank thread here.

My setosa kinda tables. It is kept about 6" from the bottom which in my tank is about 36" from the lights [Ushio 400W 15K MHs). Flow is medium. IME, once settled in, these corals are extremely hardy. This was one of the few pieces that survived my last crash, though it suffered greatly and had maybe a 1/2" of viable tissue left. Many hobbyists I know would have definitely tossed it at that stage. It is now over 6" in diameter.
