My setosa has grown three stalks from the one when I bought the frag. Recently, I noticed what looked like coraline purple spots on the coral and some algae growing on only the underside of the coral. Can anyone tell me if this is harmful to the coral and what I can do to remove it.

It almost looks as if its grafted. Definitely some recession most likely due to the war coral (favites) you have right next to it. In a lot of cases setosa usually looses when it comes to chemical warfare. I'd move it to where it has some room of its own to grow out. With good water chemistry and lighting it will bounce back in no time.
