Setting my 100 gal tank up a second time

Hello,

Looking for some instruction and advice. I recently moved towns, and need to re-establish my 100gal tank.. I have all the equipment. But my question concerns using the sand from the previous tank again? They have been stored in 5gall bucks for about 2 1/2 years. Is new live sand required.. ? I need to buy new base rock/live rock ( Fish only tank)

So would a new bag of live sand be recommended?

You dont need to add a whole bag of live sand to it. I would take the sand you have and rinse it several times before adding it. Then once you begin cycle i would find someone local and grab a cupful from them and maybe a couple pieces of LR rubble to seed everything. Essentially what i did on my tank a while back and was fine.
