Setting new 100 gal tank

I'm trying to set up a new tank and new to sumps.. I want minimal rock on my display and going bare bottom.. Will this work?

If you want minimal rock & no sand in the display, you could put either rock or some other medium such as Marine Pure in your sump to make up the biological filtration. Without enough biological filtration your tank won't be able to handle much of a bioload. Depends on your plans for the tank - more coral than fish for example.
