So without getting too much into my backstory and what I have, I currently have 2 tanks set up; A 10g and a 5g. I'm looking into converting a 33 long into a SW tank. From what people have told me and from what I've read all I need are a protein skimmer, light, and wave pump for circulation.

I'll defiantly be getting a small skimmer, most likely this one. The Aquatic life mini 115 internal PS

As far as lights go I'm looking into getting this. The Current USA orbit IC LED
Unless there is a better one for cheaper then this is what I'll most likely be buying. Do you guys think the 36 inch extended will be enough light or should I go for the 48in? (I like frogspawn and torches, but I have zooanthids, kenya trees, mushrooms, GSP, PSP, and a single hardcoral which is finally bouncing back from bleaching...if that helps with lighting needs)

For pumps I'm leaning towards the current USA eflux since its high quality and syncs up with the lights. I'm left with 2 questions- What GPH size I should get(I'm sick of using my stock return as my sole source of flow and would love more power/control but I don't want to go overboard), and do I need the pump 'kit' if I have the current orbit 'kit' already?

Thanks!

Time you need salt water fish are sensitive I put a raw shrimp in a bag in my tank with live rock and bacteria booster or starter and let I sit for two weeks a test levels

I recently set up my 75 using Current USA lights and pumps. I love the whole setup. Lights came with the controller that does have 1 preprogrammed cycle in it but I can program it for others too. The pumps can run surge, wave and stream.
I opted for the 48 for better light spread.
As for GPH, I use the 1050 pumps and they do great. The hub for the pumps and lights should link together thru the hubs and you should be able to control them thru the remote. Just make sure everything is loop capable.

I have ~24 gallons of nutra-sea. The remainder will be a home mixed saltwater mix. I'll be cycling it for at least a couple weeks before adding anything(other than ghost feeding). I might add some 1 and only.

@1WildBill Do you think a 650GPH pump would be too much for a 33 long tank? And also, do you think it would provide enough flow around the entire tank with just the one pump? I'd prefer to only have 1 - less wires that way.

The tank is very shallow, I think only 14 inches. Perhaps a 36inch light would be good since it doesn't have to penetrate so much water.

Thoughts?

Your going to want two powerheads in there unless it’s just fish I suppose.
The 650 are prob fine, the big ones if you can dial em down.
Flow is everything for corals and also a healthy tank. From cyano to ph and sps.
I would have suggested a couple jeabo wp10s and maybe something for behind rocks depending on the scape.

Shallow tank, yea, most any light will do. The 33 is 48 inches ? Pretty cool.

The currents can be dialed down, that’s why I went with the 1050 gph. I would suggest getting 2.
