Ok, so I did something stupid and got carried away on some great deals on some coral auctions! Two shipments are allowing me to add even more and just cant resist adding some zoas and a shroom I have been wanting and not having to pay an extra shipping charge to add them!

Is it possibly to set up a quick reef just to house zoas and shrooms? I already have 2 established reef tanks going so should I take water from them and some media? I have a lot of bio balls and I often change filter floss from my nuvo 20! Its to bad I just changed out my media in both. But I also have some polyfilter that could use changing as well. I dont want to take much from the tanks to mess with the balance in them like bio balls but I guess a few wont hurt and I keep frags posts in the sump as well as some big coral frag mounts that hold 5 or more at a time in my sump as well I bought to make a small zoa garden and havnt used. I think they are ceramic.

I have several small tanks in my garage a 10 and a 20 gallon. I am also going to be replacing my lighting from my nuvo 20 so I have a 2 aquatic life edge strip lights and I have 2 fluval sea strips that I paid 179 a piece for and never used! They arent the best lights but would work until I get a decent frag tank up and going in the near future. I also have some hob filters that hold a lot of media. It would be a very basic setup the only skimmer I have is a small coral life biocube hob type I have never used either and not even sure I have all the parts so might not work!

Can anyone give me some pointers or is this a bad idea? These are some high end zoas and shrooms I bought so dont want to lose them!

How much rock would I need? Should I add a fish or two later on? Should i buy some live sand and maybe a small piece of live rock from my lfs?

Appreciate any advise. I need to get it going soon! I think I can talk him into holding my order since he is leaving town anyway so maybe he will hold until he gets back!

My biggest fear is algae blooms or diatoms ect! I always waited a long while to add corals and never even turned lights on the first few months while cycling! I never had a problem with algae blooms or ugly phase for that reason either! I did get a bad GHA bloom later on that killed some corals though!

Please help!

A starter aquarium kit will give you most of the essentials and you can utilize water from your tank to fill it.
Allow water changes as needed to maintain good water quality and reducing po4 and no3 along the way
These corals allow basic equipment using basic lighting and water flow
