That's interesting... On there website it says one can only cover about 24 or 25 inches

Careful with gorgs in such a small system. When they begin to take hold and grow, they are great with chemical warfare. If you want sps or fleshy lps, do not get the gorg. In a large system, one or up to three gorgs is usually fine, but in such a small system, you are asking for trouble down the road depending in species of gorg. FME

What if I kepted the gorg on the opposite side of any LPS and just kept things like zoas near the gorg. Would that work?

I could also keep it trimmed up to make sure it doesn't start to grow to much

Zoas do not like them much either. Mushrooms and leathers are fine near most of them. Keep it trimmed and you should be fine. Otherwise, if you can, get a Grube's gorg (ORA) as they are not as noxious, but grow really fast.

Thank you!! It's just I don't have a lot of money to spend and a place gave my $100 to spend on there website. They sell purple finger gorgs that are about 6 inches. Are they photosynthetic? Are they ok to be around mushrooms and leathers?

Okay, here is what I would recommend from experience and thinking about the set up including size and maintenance schedule: I would stay away from blue legged hermits. They are cool, but eat others and snails. I would go with a full snail cuc for now. I would do a fighting conch too. They are just really cool. Red brittle stars are great too. Good clean up and reef safe. They call them brittle stars (see pic with red ones).

Looks they are showing two different species called purple finger. Either in the 6" area should be fine. They are both semi-aggressive and will need to have lots of flow to prevent too much chemical warfare. Just make sure that the mushrooms and such do not touch them as those guys can actually be harmed by mushrooms.

Thank you so much!!! What type of snails should I get? I don't want to get too many nassarius to out compete the conch. How many of the other snails? I will get a purple finger gorg!! I'll put him in direct flow with some shrooms around its base. I doubt I'll get an emerald crab because I don't trust them. I actually have a hard time trusting hermits. What type of plant do you think would do best in my fuge?

Oh, and are the purple finger gorgs photosynthetic? Do they do well under LEDs? How much light should I give them?

Well, the tank cracked

I found the crack while we were doing a leak test. I am going to go get another tank on saturday.
I do have some good news though!!! My LFS said that he had a used tunze osmolator 3155 to give me!! He said a friend of his was borrowing it but when he brought it back, I could have it!! He is also going to try to get me an AI hydra 26!! I love my LFS!!!
