Hi Guys!!

So my addiction to reefing is now real lol.

Im about to pull the trigger on one of these babies, but would like to see what other accessories people have bought with their setups?

Im going to get:

2 x AI Hydra 32
Nyos 120 Skimmer

Not sure what Return pump I should look at

Also I have a Nero 3 but should I upgrade to 2 x nero 5s?

Thanks heaps all!! Would be amazing to see your setups!

Hydras are decent lights; you'll love the Nyos skimmer. As for return pumps, you definitely want something controllable like a Sicce SDC 6.0 or COR15 (this requires a Neptune Apex though).

The Nero 5s will serve you well, but before you sell the Nero 3 make sure you have the Nero 5s in-hand first (both are very hard to get right now). I would also plan for a UV and Nyos recently upgraded their Torq reactor for GFO/carbon.

You can run the cor15 without having the apex

The Nero 5 is sold out everywhere in Australia.

would a Nero 3 at full blast at least do the job for now? I’d rather wait for the Nero 5s

For sure. I mean, the tank is just getting started so it will be enough until you can source the Nero 5s. If you're planning for an Apex I'd get the COR15. Otherwise, the Sicce SDC 6.0 or 7.0 are both solid choices (I have the SDC 7.0 and 9.0 on my system).

i may plan for an apex so ill look at the cor15. you sure it works by itself?

No, the COR15 is powered by a 1LINK (just double-checked again) - so you need an Apex system with an Energy Bar that has a 1LINK port. The COR20 is a stand-alone pump, but would probably be a tad much for your setup.

yeah, might go the sicce then for now, dont necessarily need the return pump to be apex if i get one in the end :)

The Sicce SDC wireless line has IOTA support, which means you can control the pumps with the Apex like the COR15/20.
sweet, i dont necessarily need all that though do i for just a return pump? happy to buy it though :)

The Sicce SDC line is wireless (you want this), DC (save $$ on electricity), controllable (for when you want to turn it on or off with the flick of a switch) and works with an Apex down the road (should you opt for one) to give you all sorts of control for auto-feeding, etc.

I went with the Sicce SDC 7.0 for my UV sterilizer because the cost difference over the Sicce Silent 5.0 paid for itself in 14 months. And it runs quieter and I can dial-in the flow exactly to what's needed for the UV.

Just your Nero 5s, possibly a reactor for GFO/carbon, maybe a fleece roller (vs. sock filters) and a UV. But these are also things you can add or look at later depending on how much maintenance you have and whether this would be a time savings.

id love a fleece roller but not sure it will fit with the WB sump? I dont need a reactor now do I?

Thanks heaps!

I'm not sure either, but Waterbox does list the sump specs on their website. No - you can easily add a reactor later (carbon and GFO can simply be placed in a media bag in a high-flow area of the sump).
