I'm in the process of setting up AF Component on a doser for my 92gal mixed reef.
I was previously using Tropic Marin bio cal powder daily.

I test with AF test kits, my Calcium and KH were pretty stable using BioCal, but now that I am making the switch I picked up the Mg test kit to figure out how much I need to dose daily.

My Magnesium seems to be off the test kit chart. Is it possible? Should I still start to proceed with dosing equal parts of the components or should I do something to fix this first.

Salinity - 1.205
Kh: 7.8
Ca: 455
Mg: above 1500 ??

What salt are you using? I was testing Mg with Red Sea Pro and was getting off the chart readings turned out the kit was bad. See if an LFS will test for you to be sure.

I'm using the AF reef salt mix. I can try to get my water tested Tuesday. Its a long weekend where I live, every LFS is closed today through Monday :(
I will say that the AF test kit has a reference solution which make me think the test kit should be fine.

I would test a fresh batch of salt water just to see what your water changes are doing. I would not worry too much about a 1500 level. Start your dosing regime and watch the corals and the levels. If you notice negative results or your magnesium levels rise from 1500 then adjust downward.
