Setting up custom sump

Setting up 35 gallon custom tank and am having to piece together the sump. Need a protein skimmer in the sump that is great and small. So far smallest is the reef octopus bh 50. Only have 16 inches to work with in sump so really want small skimmer. Any brands you can recommend other than reef octo. Reports on it seem iffy. Also anyone know a great reactor brand and size for a small tank. Want to run activated charcoal thu it. Trying to get the sizes so I can partition my sump tank. Really don't want hang on the back skimmer bc of look. Also, any one know of small t5. Tank length only 17 inches. Thanks for any help.

I really like the Bubble Magus NAC 3 skimmer - the footprint is nice and small for a compact sump as the pump is under the skimmer unit. It was recommended to me by another reefer, and I have been extremely happy with it's performance.

I run a standard BRS reactor for carbon. They also have a deluxe version that is slightly smaller in size, if space is an issue.
