Okay, so I was thinking about this last night I will be setting up my doser for my tank this coming weekend and I was wondering since it will be pumping into the back of my aio. Will it put the 5ml of alk solution into the tank then whatever is left go back or will it just pump 5 ml and then when it's done whatever is still in the tubes fall back into the reservoir?

So if it does only pump the 5ml then that means I need to have it set to pump more as long the 5ml goes into the tank right?

It will be going 20-30 inch I'm not home right now to measure the actual distance just thinking right now...

Because of the nature of peristalsis, the lines will never clear. They will hold stuff in them until the doser goes off again.

Okay, so will I need to raise it to more than 5 ml to get the correct amount into the tank then?

Edit: wait so if that's the case then that means after the 1st time it pushes stuff out then after that it will always dump in the proper amount then yes?

Different brands might operate differently, but in principle the fluid does not "suck back" through the tube. I use Litermeters and you calibrate it after you've rigged up all the tubing, so it accounts for pressure loss, etc. of the distance of your tubing. Then I could tell it to dose 0.01/day which would be 10ml and that amount would "actually" end up in the tank. There is no "overdosing" to account for tubing or reverse siphon loss. Other dosers may have such issues, but I imagine most do not.

Yeah okay, I understand now. Thanks! Sorry I just started thinking about all this whilst at work and I've never set one up. But that helps a lot thanks!
