Hello,

I've been thinking about a hang on back refugium, but am concerned it will look too cluttered as I don't want to paint the back of my tank. So my next thought was, maybe I should just do a hang on back overflow and sump in my stand. Can anyone advise minutely what I would need to order to do this? I'm mostly not sure on what kind of pipes to hook up to it, and what kind of return pump etc. I have a 75g tank. Was going to order from bulk reef supply.

Thanks for your help,

Meghan

Hey Meghan,

Quick question- have you ruled out drilling your tank? That's the preferable solution, but if you don't want to do that, my favorite brands of HOB have been lifereef or eschopps. Ultimately, you would need to buy one of the units, some either hard pvc or flexible tubing to connect them and a sump (either bought or DIY). You can then match the return pump to the flow rate of your overflow (making sure it's less than the overflow can handle) or if you already have a return pump, match your overflow to make sure it can handle more than your return pump.

I have ruled out drilling, it's already occupied.
