hey guys I'm setting up my first frag tank with a 13 gallon NANO tank need some help. Please help.

thanks, Keira

Hello Keira,

What do you need help on? I'll just throw out some maxims for the hobby in general if you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

Go slow, don't rush into it. If you're setting it up from scratch don't let it cycle and don't rush it. This maybe 4-6weeks of wait time.

While you're waiting, start looking at what livestock you want. If this is your first tank look at Xenia, GSP, and some types of polyps.

Make sure your rockwork is arranged so that flow can go completely around the structure. Don't let it sit up against the glass.

Add only a couple fish (of appropriate size) for your tank.

These may or may not have answered a question.

I would be using water from my established salt tank 55g. I was going to just use a frag rack....no substrate to cycle. and have a filter, heater and powerhead or wavemaker. This is only a temp tank until I set them up in the main aquarium. Does this all sound good?

Yes, but you will need some sort biological filter. You can add bottled bacteria or a piece of live rock. Are you just going to have corals in it or fish and corals?

Just corals. how big does the rock have to be? I have some smaller pieces of live rock.

Not a lot. Just a small chunk, coral bioloads are tiny but they do produce waste.

Sounds good!! Thanks a lot Quah ;Shy
