Hello and I am thrilled to be a new member to this community.
I am starting a new thread because I am starting on a brand new Mixed Reef environment and will need all the help I can get :)
I am a currently owned by a rather messy 40 gallon FOWLR tank (Nusiance algie everywhere :() and with the exception of my three current finned occupants (2 Bangai Cardinals named Abbott and Costello, and one Clown fish named Annie (named for my boss who bought him/her for me) and some Hermit Crabs, I am starting from scratch.
The tank will be in my family room for all to enjoy.
My new environment will consist of the following:
125 Gallon 6 Foot Lee Mar glass aquarium with two overflows, Typhoon III Extreme RODI, Tunze Osmolator (Gawd, how did I ever do without this marvel?), Tunze 9410 Protein Skimmer, Synergy Reef SS34 Sump and Synergy ATO tank, BRS Dual Reactors (GFO & Carbon), and as of today, I have finally made my return pump decision (I think :)) Tunze Silence 1073.05 DC Pump), possibly two of them and Neptune Systems Apex to manage it all.
I travel a fair amount and needed to try and make the tank somewhat automated.
I am starting to put the pieces parts together, and plan on starting the serious setup in a couple of weeks when the sump and return pumps show up.
I have learned a great deal already from the great folks here, the biggest and most critical two lessons are :
1 - Take it slow and easy. Patience will rule the day.
2 - Reach out to the amazing amount of knowledge and offers of support here at Reef2Reef.

I look forward to sharing this exciting new tank build, along with the inevitable challenges with you all, and as soon as I figure out the posting of pictures thing, I'll start posting them from the initial build onward :)
Hal

welcome to the site! looking forward to seeing progress on your build. Sounds like you have it well thought out!

Hello Fishroomlady, and thanks. I hope I've made the majority of mistakes I am going to make with my first tank and I'm ready to do this :pray2:. Then again, I've never grown corals before

Be sure to start a build thread as well! I love seeing progression. Speaking of which, I need to get back to updating my thread.
